Scaling & Root Planing
Think of scaling and root planing as a more in-depth dental cleaning that focuses on your gum line and the roots of your teeth. Scaling involves a hygienist removing built-up plaque and tartar from inside gum pockets that contain the bacteria behind gum disease, and then the roots of your teeth are smoothed (root planing).
